MEET: AnhVP (Veeps)
Casual Gamer High
In the Beginning
In high school, a friend invited me to play Brood War. We played over dial-up connections (some of us older folks might remember what that was, that’s if we’re lucky to remember, it was soo long ago). It was my introduction into the RTS genre and I didn’t like it and gave up because I just didn’t understand the RTS concept. At the time I was more into RPGs and Arcade genres.
What Happened to Bros Before Ho’s?
In 2010, WoL launched and a few of my friends decided they wanted to play it so we all got the game. This time I fared better and able to understand the game and the concept of RTS. Well, I did pretty good but my friends didn’t do so well, they sucked. So they dropped the game. Alone in the vast with just a glimpse of light in the darkness, this young Terran Commander fought through the frey and achieved PLATINUM. My highlight was being able to control multiple armies and conduct multiple drops at the same time and that STUTTER STEP.
In the end….
As with everything in life, all things come to an end as I also dropped out of the SC scene due to life changes. But in mid to late 2015, I decided to come back. I don’t have the same fervor as I did in WoL but that doesn’t mean I can’t just be here for just kicks. Definitely going to have some here at CLAN KYLE.
I served in overseas in Iraq, 15 months and I went to Haiti for the humanitarian mission 3 months
So my handle is VIK, a little about myself in regards to Brood War, would have to be around 9 or 10 years ago, a game was introduced to me called Starcraft (the original) by my good friend Kyle, of course I was was terrible at it, beating an ai was a milestone achievement, we would team up to defeat his older brother the Protoss, “ we still lost” later on he introduced me to the expansion brood war, now if you wondering how did I not know about brood war at the time, it's because I did not have access to the wonders of the internet. I only played Starcraft offline vs the unstoppable Ai. Later I did obtain internet access via a wifi router, from kyle of course. The next step was team games, only comp stomps, a third buddy JP joined and we partake in Diablo 2 and Starcraft brood war 3v3s comp stomps, kyle the toss, JP the toss who only made cannons, and me a Terran who make goliaths and tanks…. We still lost but it was fun, fast forwarding they moved on from the game, only played here and there; while I was a bit more intrigued by this game, that relies on speed, fast decision making and strategy to outdo your opponent. It was towards the my junior and senior years of high school I decided to take on the 1v1 challenges against real players ”humans” I played some Iccup; I was terrible but it made me a better player, because once I played again with Kyle, The difference in skill was obvious I didn’t really realize the skill I gained, however to be fair I was a Zerg when I decided to do 1v1s, we had many matches lots of them I 6 pooled, but even in macro games I won. After that I continued to terrorize all my friends in high school with 1v1s “the rage was hilarious to me” however I don’t recommend doing that to your friends. I then had a fateful encounter with someone on Broodwar I did a lot of 2v2s with, the news broke out about Starcraft 2 coming out! Beta keys are being given to the lucky ones, and my 2v2 teammate had one, however he didn’t want to play Starcraft 2! He was comfortable with brood war, he gave me an opportunity to have his key if I can beat him in a 1v1, so we played; I won with the dirty 6 pool =). I now have a beta key, but my computer was garbage, the generous Kyle allowed me to install Starcraft 2 wings of liberty beta to his computer, we took turns playing, he found an offline Ai to play against and it kinda felt like a throwback from old times against the Broodwar ai, So fast forwarding some more, Kyle passes and I decide to use [KYLE] as my tag, I used that tag because it reminded me of the good old times, a year later I thought why not start a casual clan in memory of the person who introduced me to Starcraft; Kyle RIP bro =)
